Sustainable development has been defined by the Bruntland Commission as that which "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." No country in the world is currently on a trajectory that will enable it to transform to a sustainable society -- and thus changes at all levels are needed. The challenge facing people is thus global in scope. Understanding ethical issues is a vital part of meeting this challenge. |
